The other day Grace and I went to the store to pick up some groceries. On the way back, Elton John’s “Your Song” came on the radio and I started singing along. Shortly after Grace began singing as well. It was one of those sweet moments in life I hope I never forget. My daughter and I singing like we don’t have a care in the world.
Then the chorus of the song wrapped up and I heard these lyrics:
I hope you don’t mind that I put down in words
How wonderful life is while you’re in the world
It made me think about this space. I haven’t been as faithful to it as I would like to have been. Life gets busy in a hurry and if I have to pick between loving my daughter and writing about loving my daughter, I’m going to pick the first over the latter.
But I hope Grace can look back years from now and read the words I wrote and know how wonderful it is for me to be her father.

I just ‘happened’ upon this site while looking up the lyrics of “Your Song.” I’m so glad that I journeyed here. This is a beautiful thing you’re doing for your daughter and for yourself. Truly beautiful. I wish you a multitude of wonderful moments…
